CCP Office and Laboratory

CCP operates out of a 1800 sq ft laboratory and office space in Clements Ferry, outfitted with tools for paleontological preparation and curation. It houses CCP’s collections and provides a home base for its research operations.

Field Site

CCP operates and excavates a private field site known as the “Edisto Locality.” It is among the first sites to produce vertebrate fossils from the Edisto Formation, which dates to 23.5 Myo by Strontium isotope dating. This site was originally discovered and purchased by CCP Board Chair, Dr. Elizabeth Kane, in 2022. CCP is actively collecting a variety of new vertebrate and invertebrate fossils from this location, and cataloging the diversity of micro-fauna collected from this rare site.

The first record of the mega-toothed shark Carcharocles angustidens ever to be confirmed from the Edisto Formation. Discovered at CCP’s private Edisto Locality Field Site.
